INAUGURAL AT HAGERSTOWN HAGERSTOWN Md May 15 The Harry E Bester Memorial a sprint of about five furlongs had the center position of the opening day program at Hagerstown The race an allowance affair for threeyearolds and over resulted in a driving victory for H C Vaughns Grace Bunting when the daughter of Bunting Grace Note was able to hold a length and a half margin at the finish Closest to the winner was Mrs E P Summerf ields Serenabit while an additional half length back Curling took third Lodorus oddson choice was forced to take fourth place before Timber Fire The race was marred when Light Action fell on the turn before the heajiof the stretch although the accident did not alter the running as Light Action was well back Jockey Feltner astride Light Action was uninjured The winner was ridden by jockey A Gaither and com ¬ pleted a double for that rider he having piloted Justa Teacher to victory in the third race Following the race a presentation of a trophy was made to H C Vaughn by Dr Charles H Conley of Fredrick Md Demo ¬ cratic nominee for Governor of Maryland
