Unplaced NEW YORK N Y June 18 William Woodwards Fleam winner of the Acorn Stakes earlier in the year but soundly beaten in the Coaching Club American Oaks by Mrs W Plunkett Stewarts Lady Reigh turned the tables on the daughter of Reigh Count at Aqueduct today when she was win ¬ ner of the Flight Purse a mile race devoted to fillies and mares Lady Reigh was not able to finish better than fourth when it was E R Bradleys Barn Swallow that was second and the Wheatley Stables Dusky Princess a stablemate to Fleam was third thirdThis This race while an overnight affair gave the Queens County Jockey Club sport some importance and while there was a drop in temperature a big crowd was out and the interest was lively in the entertainment offered offeredBarn Barn Swallow was the one fouryearold in the field of five that raced in the Flight Purse and in view of what the daughter of Black Servant had done and the fact that she was light weight of the company on the scale she was the popular choice Then there were many good judges that liked the chances of Joseph E WidenerX Sickle Pear a filly that had shown sprinting quality qualityAs As the five left the stalls Dusky Princess jumped in the air and in consequence was last to be in motion Wright went put with Sickle Pear and when he had the Widener filly in full stride he took a slight hold of her head to show the way Fleam and Barn Swallow followed closely lapped with the Bradley miss on the outside and Lady Reigh at their heels heelsIt It was near the stretch turn that Meade made his move with Barn Swallow As he shook up the daughter of Black Servant she was alongside Sickle Pear in a few strides Then she had the daughter of Sickle headed and she showed the way into the stretch Stout had to come outside of Barn Swallow as he moved up with Fleam but he soon had Sickle Pear headed to move into second place placeMeadc Meadc was quick to see the danger in the move of Fleam and he went to a drive on Barn Swallow a furlong from the fin ¬ ish The filly responded gamely and for a time held the Woodward miss safe but the daughter of General Lee was just beginning to run and she was soon past to gallop home winner by three lengths lengthsBarn Barn Swallow was much better than the others and saved second place by five lengths and Dusky Princess after her hand ¬ icap at the start readily caught Lady Reigh as Sickle Pear found the mile altogether too far when she was last of the lot after showing good speed for six furlongs Continued on twelfth page TURNS TABLES ON LADY REIGH Continued from first page T W Durants Enchanter which has be ¬ come well night unbeatable over the hurdles won his third race in a row when he took down the mile and threequarters over the hurdles that was the second offering He jumped rather badly at the last fence where he swerved and he had to be ridden out to score over S A Warner Baltizzis White Lightning and Mrs D B Wentz Jrs Palm Off was third thirdMarshall Marshall Fields Sir Lamorak the big son of Sir Gallahad III and Virginia L won a close decision in the opening dash at five furlongs for maidens William Woodwards Omaha was closely lapped on the immense bay and only another half length back Mrs Silas B Masons Nubs was third before Watersplash Just as the big field left the stall there was a deal of crowding and one that was eliminated by his green actions was Galon Boy Meade had Sir Lamorak away in full stride and while he cut out the run ¬ ning he was also guilty of considerable swerving and he raced greenly greenlyThe The third race at five furlongs for juve ¬ nile fillies of the plater variety fell to S G Baileys Polly Plum a daughter of Poly melian and Plummet which dominated all the running Thomas B Gays Alanova was the only one to offer any contention and she readily took second place from the Brandywine Stables Torfrida Ogle was fourth fourthMiss Miss A Pendergasts Aileen C proved best of the starters in the six furlongs of the fifth when she led home Mrs Kathleen Jes bergers Dunbar and James V Stewarts Bally Bay beat Black Watch for third Then there came a disqualification when third was taken from Bally Bay and Black Watch was moved up to take that part of the purse purseThere There was a considerable delay at the post for which Aileen C was chiefly to blame but the start wasa good one Chain was first to show from the stalls but he was almost at once headed by Black Watch and Bally Bay while Aileen C after leaving from the outside stall was racing closely after them themThis This was the order to the stretch turn where Aileen C circled around to go into the lead In the run home Aileen C ap ¬ peared to come over somewhat and Bally Bay was caught between the filly and Black Watch There was some interference but the blame was put on Bally Bay and he was set back backAileen Aileen C was going away at the end to win by two lengths and Black Watch had beaten Bally Bay a like distance distanceS S S Sands WardinChancery ridden by L Humphries was the easiest kind of a winner of the final race of the day which was for platers over a mile and an eighth Slipping through on the inside he disposed of the others and at the finish was under restraint to lead home Uncle Donald and Swatter while Jamison one that was in ¬ stalled the opening choice but receded in the calculations was a badly beaten fourth The winner was accorded the bulk of financial support while Swatter also at ¬ tracted a large following After the run ¬ ning the stewards announced that the fur ¬ ther entry of Jamison would be refused pending investigation
