Coe entry. j ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 6.— Eleven of the smartest juvenile fillies in America seek victory in the sixth edition of the Arlington Lassie Stakes, feature of tomorrows Arlington Park Program. The successful filly in the dash of six furlongs having a probable gross value of 2,840 will have her name inscribed along with such outstanding stars of past and present as Mata Hari, Hilena, Top Flight, Bisque and Capture. The sixth Lassie Stakes, to which the Arlington Park Jockey Club adds 0,000, will Mbe Obe a a true true battle battle between between East East and and West, West, with with Mbe Obe a a true true battle battle between between East East and and West, West, with with the former section favored in early calculations. Representing the Atlantic seaboard section will be the two probable favorites, Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitneys Motto and Morton L. Schwartz Good Gamble. Upholding the best traditions of the West will be Mrs. Roy Carruthers Bye Lo, Milky Way Farms Irksome, Everglade Stables Mrs. Fab, Mrs. John Hertz Royal Duchess, Norman Churchs Toro Nancy and Elmer Dale Shaffers Nectarine. Aiding the two eastern favorites will be William R. Coes Clean Out and Squeeze, while the only other candidate, the Warm Stables Mid Victorian, is Kentucky- and New York-owned. Two stake winners are among the eleven candidates— Motto and Irksome — and each will carry 119 pounds. Motto, which came here heralded as another Top Flight, has the Fashion Stakes at Belmont to her credit. To see that no chances are taken, trainer Thomas J. Healey is sending Raymond "Sonny" Workman here to guide the daughter of Sir Gallahad IH. and Maxima. Both Bye Lo and Mid Victorian qualified in a pleasing manner for the Lassie when they competed against Black Helen early in the week. Both suffered considerable bad luck during the race, yet finished in a manner to suggest that they will be most dangerous over the greater distance of the Lassie, which is the first race of the season for juvenile fillies at six furlongs. Good Gamble made her debut the other day and scored in such a cleancut manner that she will not lack for supporters, particularly among the horsemen here. Many of the experts believe she will rule the favorite over Motto. The Lassie weights are arranged so that ordinary winners will carry 117 pounds each and maidens 115 pounds each. There are five of the former in the race and four which have never won, although they have indicated to their trainers sufficient promise for the ,000 starting fee to be paid. The race lost some of its promise when Belair Studs Vicaress was not entered, although she was shipped here for the event. She is suffering from a slight fever. Upholding the Lassie will be seven other races, including the Black Hawk Handicap, at three-quarters, which will engage such speedsters as Chance Line, Dust Girl, Gift of Roses, Blessed Event, Princess Camelia, Some Pomp and Clotho. The Palatine Purse, at one mile, will bring together such capable horses as Jovius, Sleuth, Gallant Mac and Saint. A turf race at one mile also is on the card. An added attraction will be Joseph E. Wideners Belmont Stakes winner, Peace Chance, here to dispute Cavalcades claim to the three-year-old championship in the Classic a week hence. Peace Chance will be paraded in the paddock after the third race, after which he will be sent out on the track 1 for a public workout. Wayne Wright prob- 1 ably will ride him.
