RENEW LATONIA OAKS TODAY Latonia Derby and Kentucky Oaks Winner, Fiji, Top Heavy Favorite To Win Race. LATONIA, Ky., July 6.— Fiji, the three-year-old daughter of Bostonian and O Girl, which races for the Young Bros, of Lexington, will try for her second Oaks victory and her third stake win of the year in the thirty-eighth renewal of the Latonia Oaks at the Milldale track Saturday afternoon. The winmr of the Kentucky Oaks and Latonia Derby heads a list of eight starters for the mile and a quarter race, which features the last of a thirty-seven day meeting at Latonia. Fiji, which must carry top weight of 124 pounds, will rule a top heavy favorite to capture this time-honored fixture, in view of her brilliant victory in the Latonia Derby. The Young Bros, also intend to end their Penn-cote to the post as a running mate to Fiji. In the Derby, Fiji took the lead and led all the way to beat such opponents as Howard, Time Clock, Rose Cross and Plight, a feat, which bodes ill for those which oppose her in the Oaks. Fijis chief contention is expected to come from the Parkview Stables Cactus Rose, which has yet to show that she can go a route, Mrs. W. E. Smiths Sallie Gray and the Ridgeview Stock Farms Ridge Blond, another that has yet to be tried over a distance of ground. The other two intended starters are H. H. Briners Laura Kiev and J. W. Parrishs Old Lady. All of them, except Fiji, carry 116 pounds. If all eight start, the race will have a net value of ,180 to the winner. The horses, post positions, weights and jockeys follow PP.
