1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES $ . : $ Jockey Johnny Leyland accepted his first mount of the meeting on Gin Buck in the second race Saturday. Jockey B. Fels and K. Knott notified Jimmy Neel that they would be here Monday ready to accept mounts. They are coming from Hot Springs. C. V. Thomas arrived from Hot Springs. He has only Polante to carry his colors. Despite threatening weather, Fort Worth Day was an auspicious occasion Saturday at Arlington Downs. Floral decorations were in profusion around the stewards stand, and each of the races on the days program was dedicated to outstanding organizations in Fort Worth. Dora Lee Byars, pretty .Fort Worth debutante, represented the Chamber of Commerce in the third event, and Margaret Ridgeway, another debutante sponsored the Hotel Texas race. Mrs. George Fairtrace represented the City of Fort Worth in the handicap, presenting the winning owner with a pretty floral tribute, and Mrs. E. Paul Waggoner presented the Texas Jockey Clubs massive silver tro-phy to the winning owner. In the stewards stand for the handicap, in addition to the regular officials and Mesdames Waggoner and Fairtrace, were Mayor Van Zandt Jar-vis, Chief of Police Henry Lewis, Lieut. Bob Dysart, George Fairtrace, city manager, and the city council members. Piquant Patsy Farrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell, sponsored the Worth Hotel Purse and presented a lavish floral trophy to the winning owner. Helen Moody, sweetheart of the Texas Christian Universitys band and one of the loveliest of Fort Worths younger society set, sponsored the Biltmore Garage Purse. Cecil Childers of the El Ranchito polo club, who recently returned to Arlington after taking his red-, .white- and blue-shirted malleteers to Mexico for a series of games, was a visitor Saturday at Arlington Downs. Childers, with Mrs. Childers. announced that the two Mexican army and civilian teams would be at Arlington Downs late in April for an international tournament.
