MINNIE GREENOCK, forced to lose ground while racing forward, responded to strong urging in the drive, and was wearing the winner down at the end. GRANDMAS BOY, used up in forcing the pace, tired in the last stages. TOPEKA, away well, but forced to lose ground while racing forward, weakened after reaching contention. CHILNORE, away slowly, saved ground to the stretch and finished strongly. BLIND RIVER showed nothing. JOHNNY BANE, fractious at the start but away well, was in close quarters until reaching the stretch, then weakening. KOLEY BEY showed nothing. MISSOURI GIRL was outrun. MAEANTIC, outrun for three-eighths, came to the inside for a drive, but weakened after offering a strong bid. INFLATE lost ground while offering a strong bid, was forced wide entering the stretch, and held on well. GRATTAN had a rough trip. ANA ,X. was outrun. POLYPHOTE quit. WHIZZ JAMES took command immediately, was put to strong urging when challenged, was pinched back when relinquishing the lead and weakened thereafter. SEMESTER showed a good effort.
