FOREIGN TURF NOTES James A de Rothschild won the Kings Prize Handicap at Epsom April 25 with his homebred gray colt The Old Pretender after a thrilling finish to beat Irongrey by a head Before the race Robber Chief a pronounced favorite slipped and threw his rider The jockeys shoulder was badly bruised and the stewards ordered the horse withdrawn and all bets on the Lord Derby gelding voided Four gray horses were winners at Epsom They included Crawley Wood in the Great Metropolitan Flanagan The Old Pretender and Crosspatch The last named horse is a son of the Derby winner Papyrus which in ¬ vaded the American turf without success successThe The valuable Sandown Park Stud Produce Stakes run at Sandown Park Saturday April 27 was won by an unnamed filly by Hurst wood Flower Show which was led to the post with her jockey walking beside her Permission was granted because she had bolted in her only previous race
