CloseFinish Finish Pat Knebelkamp Uncovers Good GoodFilly Filly in Danise II NEW YORK N Y June 13 With a pro gram of seven overnight events at Aque ¬ duct today the most valuable offering was a steeplechase over the short course under selling conditions Only three of the five that went to the post completed the course and it went to F Ambrose Clarks Louis DOr ridden by Bellhouse with Thomas Hitchcocks Blackcock piloted by the ama ¬ teur Rigan McKinney second and Miss Sara Jane Sanfords Frolic II with E Christian in the saddle third thirdBad Bad Bob unseated E Mitchell at the fifth fence and Kingfish when hopelessly out of the contention unseated W Turner at the eleventh Fortunately Mitchell escaped with a few bruises but Turner was more seriously hurt and he was removed from the field in an ambulance ambulanceA A surprisingly large crowd was out for the sport and the conditions were ideal for the racing racingLouis Louis DOr was easily best of the small field in the chase and he made all the pace under restraint Both Blackcock and Frolic II were also under restraint as they followed the Clark fencer and there seemed ho desire on the part of any jockey to cut out the pace Bad Bob was also close to the contention until he made a bad land ¬ ing that unseated Mitchell Kingfish dropped out of the running almost at once and he was jumping badly all the way wayFor For a turn of the field both Frolic II and Blackcock were rank and Christian had somet rouble restraining Frolic II back of the pace but it was accomplished and then he went from a pull to a drive and it was tactics that surely did the old gelding no good and he would not extend himself freely when called on in the final six furlongs furlongsMr Mr McKinney timed his run nicely with Blackcock and in the front field he closed slightly on Louis DOr but Bellhouse had plenty left on the imported jumper to have him winner by two lengths Frolic II had tired rather badly under the peculiar ride of Christian and he was fifteen lengths back of the Hitchcock gelding geldingAfter After Turner had been taken to the track hospital it was discovered that he had no broken bones as a result of his fall and be yong a severe shaking up he was not in ¬ jured juredJuveniles Juveniles of the plater sort met in the opening race a dash of five furlongs and it brought a nose finish when Miss A Pend ergasts Draft Sergeant was just up to win by a nose from John E Kenneys Pretty Busy and back of the fighting pair Gus Pattersons Playful Tour just saved third from Trebor TreborThere There came another close finish in the six Tnd a half furlongs of the third race when Thruster from the Belair Stud Stable was up to beat Samuel D Riddles Soldiers Dream and third went to the B B Stables Apprentice one of the shortpriced favorites of the afternoon afternoonSoldiers Soldiers Dream leaving on the inside stall was the one to carry the pace but he was never able to draw away from his com ¬ pany Apprentice was right after him in the early racing and then Thruster took up the chase with Pinluck in third place before the B B plater which had dropped back J slightly slightlyThis This was the order as the stretch was reached and there Pinluck was badly knocked about to lose any chance he may have had while with the exception of Soldiers Dream the others went a bit wide After saving all the ground at a big ad ¬ vantage Soldiers Dream held his lead to the closing strides where Thruster closed to drop his head down in front right at the line lineApprentice Apprentice had rather a rough trip as Wright attempted to send him through in the stretch and he was another two lengths back but five lengths before Communist one that came with a great rush in the final quarter after being a trailer in the early stages stagesPat Pat Knebelkamp uncovered a smart juvenile filly in the fourth a five furlong dash confined to maidens of her sex when he sent out Danise M to carry the silks of the Orienta Stable It was the first start of the Epinard La Grisette filly but she was evidently well educated for she left the stalls running and never left the result in doubt doubtCal Cal Rainey had only to sit still to have her winner by five lengths Dewey Ben thams Flopsie raced to second place two lengths before George D Wideners She knows and seh had beaten Mrs Walter M Jeffords Sweet as Sugar a head for third There was some excuse for this filly when she was way slowly in a poor start and she had closed some ground from that bad beginning beginningThere There came one more thrilling finish in the fifth when the B B Stables Spanish Way won his third race in a row when he just lasted to beat Jack McPhersons Glas tonbury and far back of the pair third went to Red Jug from the Geneseo Stable StableWar War Stripes was the one to set the pace but Spanish Way went stride for stride with the Riddle plater until he had put him away to go into command in the long stretch run Glastonbury had dropped far back in the early stages and Coucci had to go to the outside when the stretch was reached reachedIn In the last furlong the son of Sir Gallahad III finished gallantly and Spanish Way was tiring from his early efforts but the Mc Pherson horse was just a stride short to lose by a short head Red Jug raced third throughout though no match for the pair that beat him while War Stripes quit badly after racing with the winner to the stretch Flashing Colors the only other starter was last at all stages of the running runningAndy Andy McDermott veteran blacksmith who shoed Man OWar died at his home in Queens Village after a lingering illness Interment will tie in Holy Cross Cemetery Brooklyn
