ODDESA LADY VICTRESS Filly Easy Winner of Juvenile Event at Churchill Downs Black Buddy Accounts for Purse in inFifth Fifth Oaks Candidates Try TryConclusions Conclusions in Sixth LOUISVILLE Kyf May 10 A diversified program of eight races was presented here at Churchill Downs under ideal weather conditions and before a large Monday crowd which included many who remained over after Saturdays running of the Kentucky Derby Well matched fields met in a ma ¬ jority of the events and as there were a number of close finishes favorites gave good accounts of themselves and the inter ¬ est of spectators was maintained through ¬ out the afternoon afternoonA A meeting of a number of candidates for the Kentucky Oaks 5000 fixture for three yearold fillies to be renewed next Satur ¬ day was the principal attraction of the day but much interest was evident in the out ¬ come of the fourth a dash of four and a half furlongs for twoyearolds twoyearoldsThe The Oddesa Farm Stable maintained by J B Jones of Detroit provided the winner of the juvenile event in the Macaw or Up ¬ set filly Oddesa Lady whch under jockey Jack Westrope wore down Jubilesta in the stretch to win off by herself by three lengths Jubilesta was easily best of the others as Black Coat finished third two and a half lengths farther back Ebony Boy led home the others in the field of seven sevenJubilesta Jubilesta took the lead at the outset with Oddesa Lady in hot pursuit but after reach ¬ ing the stretch the Oddesa Farm filly took command and held sway to the end endBLACK BLACK COATS EXCUSE EXCUSEBlack Black Coat virtually an equal favorite with the winner might have offered strong ¬ er opposition but for failing to begin well while Trumont practically walked away from the gate The others had no visible excuses excusesOvercoming Overcoming early interference and getting through on the inside in the stretch the strongly backed Marie Jean owned by F P Letellier and ridden by D E Packer was a driving winner of the first race The con ¬ test was for threeyearolds and upward i over six and a half furlongs and at the I end of the sprint the Letellier mare was in front by a neck with Billies Orphan second and Chalk Eye third Billies Orphan made all the pace and hung on with determina ¬ tion in the drive but could not withstand f Continued on thirtieth page ODDESA LADY VICTRESS Continued from first page the winner although she was much the best of the others othersThe The second race was a dash of four and a half furlongs for twoyearold maidens and the winner was Tilly Kate owned by the Riedinger Brothers Jockey Lee Hardy sent the daughter of Draymont to the front at the outset and she stayed in front to the end winning with three lengths to spare Osculet close up from shortly after the start accounted for second honors while Lourdes came from a good way back to be third in the field of twelve The entry of Tab Me and Mothers Love owned by Morris Vehon ruled a slight favorite over the win ¬ ner and while Tab Me raced with the lead ¬ ers to the final furlong Mothers Love failed to be a strong contender at any stage
