NO SIR IN AMERICAN DERBY Miss Mary Hirsch Reserves Stalls at Homewood Track First Woman to Campaign String at Course j Bich Stakes Closing Saturday and Monday Miss Mary Hirsch first licensed woman trainer in the land expects to campaign her stable at the coming Washington Park race meeting it was learned today by president Walter L Gregory of the Washington Park Jockey Club ClubWith With the return of Sidney Brown from Keeneland and Churchill Downs which he visited in the interest of the Washington Park stakes many additional stable reserva ¬ tions and stake nominations were placed on file in the Jockey Club offices Among these is the request of Miss Hirsch for stalls for her thoroughbreds which include her Ameri ¬ can Derby candidate No Sir and an eligible for the Princess Pat named Arachne ArachneMiss Miss Hirsch is the daughter of Max Hirsch who saddled last years Derby win ¬ ner Bold Venture and a sister to W J Hirsch who owns the Widener Challenge Cup winner Columbiana She was first li ¬ censed to train her horses in the East some years ago and since then has turned in an enviable record No Sir was the first colt to beat Pompoon as a twoyearold and this year was the first Kentucky Derby starter ever sent to the post by a woman trainer trainerSidney Sidney Brown reports that the majority of the stables which raced at Churchill Downs and had starters in the Kentucky Derby will be on hand for the opening of the south side track on May 24 and will race throughout the meeting shooting for the 30000 added American Derby on June 19 All stall space at the track has already been allotted but eight miles south at the Lincoln Fields track there is additional room for the accommo ¬ dation of late comers comersNominations Nominations for the American Derby the Chicago Handicap the Blue and Gray the Prairie State and the Great Western close on Monday night Final payments for the Futurity and the Princess Pat are due two days earlier before Saturday midnight and indications are that some seventy fillies will remain eligible for the 25000 filly race with nearly 100 paid up for the 40000 Futurity
