FEMININE OWNER SCORES Mrs S Orrs Orinoco Victorious in the Rockford Handicap Twelve Thousand Pans Watch Eight EightThrilling Thrilling Races at Aurora Camera Decides finishes AURORA 111 May 15 More than 12000 enthusiastic racing fans jammed their way Into the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs track for the third Saturday of racing here and viewed a program offering eight faces that were re ¬ plete with thrills The camera was called on several times to separate the horses at the finish finishNine Nine of the twelve horses which were named in the overnight entries for the Rock ford Handicap started over a mile and seventy yards in the sixth and headline of ¬ fering of the day which was won by Mrs S Orrs Orinoco making his initial appear ¬ ance of the meeting The bay gelding held a margin of three lengths over Getalong at the finish while a head farther back came Miss G Killeens Bon Centime which ruled favorite in the race raceA A protest of foul was lodged against the winner by apprentice H Mora who had the mount on Bon Centime who charged that jockey Buddy Guymon who was astride the winner came over too sharply when assum ¬ ing the lead in the final furlong but the stewards did not allow the claim and per ¬ mitted the result to stand standWINNING WINNING MOVE MOVEGetalong Getalong under the handling of apprentice Paul Ryan was away to a quick start and set the pace until well straightened out in the stretch followed closest by Bon Centime and Black River Orinoco was racing in sixth position as the field charged down the back stretch but on reaching the final quar ¬ ter Orinoco moved to the outside and set sail for the leaders leadersMidway Midway in the stretch Orinoco caught the leaders and forged to the front and in doing so lunged over to the inside rail causing Mora to take up sharply on Bon Centime Getalong continued gamely under strong urging and held off the bid of the favorite in the drive to the wire to save the place portion of the purse purseIt It was a highly speculative gathering of racing fans that braved cloudy and cool weather to be on hand for the days sport and it was estimated that the activities in the mutuel wickets would surpass the record handle of the inaugural day when 199000 was wagered wageredJAY JAY D BY HEAD HEADA A close and thrilling finish resulted in the first race a dash of five and a half fur ¬ longs when F W Cairys Jay D led throughout to register by the margin of a head over the fastfinishing Jockana which ruled favorite in the field of seven contes ¬ tants A half length further back in third place came Corida in the blanket finish finishStudents Students of form connected in the second event of the day a mile and seventy yards contest in which eight matched strides with Mrs M B Etzlers Pops Betty an oddson choice in the wagering easily accounting for the lions share of the purse by the comfort ¬ able margin of three lengths Probationer finished thirdMrs second and Brown Man third Mrs finished second a half length in the wake of the winner and a neck in advance of Star Bess It was the second success in a row for the twin sister of Goldman Hustled into a commanding lead after the to end to register by a length over Money Getter in a driving finish The Rew came up from the rear in the stretch to account for third money Soaring steadily in the wagering The Jurist rewarded his few supporters with the handsome odds of 3660 for each 2 straight wager Ridden by apprentice Willie Cook The Jurist showed a clean set of racing plates to his eight rivals and crossed the tape with a length margin though he had to be shaken up vigorously in the stretch
