DETROIT TURF NOTES Charles Irby arrived from New York and probably will take over a leading stable to train trainMrs Mrs Harold R Boyer granddaughter of the late Col F M Alger made the presen ¬ tation of a beautiful trophy after the run ¬ ning of the Colonel Alger Memorial Handi ¬ cap capGovernor Governor Frank Murphy was unable to be present for the holiday program but was represented by his sister and brotherinlaw who occupied the governors box In his message to Clarence E Lehr president and general manager of the Detroit Racing Asso ¬ ciation Governor Murphy stated he was a great lover of thoroughbred racing and that it did much for the state of Michigan He concluded by saying that he intended to wit ¬ ness as much racing as his official duties would permit
