POLO PARK OPENS THE THEMIDWEST MIDWEST CANADIAN SPORT WINNIPEG Man May 31 Polo Park Winnipeg opened the racing for the Cana ¬ dian middle west on Saturday with 500 horses on the grounds The seven races attracted full fields of twelve in each case and a crowd of 7500 was on hand for the opening Attendance and mutuel play showed an increase over the opening day of 1936 Polo Park will continue until June 14 after a layoff of three days Whittier will open for a fourteenday session The Winnipeg sport begins a sixtysixday season on the three prairie provinces of Canada This will likely be extended to seventysix days as plans are being made to race at Chinook Park at Calgary in September
