HOMEWOOD 111 May 31 Carrying his impost of 120 pounds over a mile and a fur ¬ long in 150 just fourfifths of a second off the track record on a track that was only good Count Morse performing under War ¬ ren Wrights Calumet Farm colors raced to victory in the third running of the Blue and Gray Memorial Handicap which featured the holiday program at Washington Park this afternoon Well rated by threeyearold honors the Val dina Farms Eagle Pass closest to him at the end of the journey journeyThird Third in the race which was worth 4420 to the winner was the topweighted Finance which with War Emblem composed the entry of Mrs Emil Denemark and which ruled favorite over the winner Finance fin ¬ ished a length and a half behind the run ¬ nerup under his 122 pounds while Wood lander was fourth to complete the distance The others in the field of ten were Grand Manitou Giant Killer Cardarrone Our Reigh and Salaam SalaamCLOSES CLOSES BIG GAP GAPWoodlander Woodlander came from a long way back to finish within a length of Finance and two lengths in front of Grand Manitou which made a threatening gesture on the stretch turn and then gave way A truly run race none of the contestants appeared to have any excuse for defeat defeatCount Count Morse was second choice of the tremendous crowd which wagered a total of 5100729 on the race and he paid 9 for 2 2Finance Finance raced closest to Count
