BATTING EYE LOSES PURSE Prize Money Is Taken Away After AfterSaliva Saliva Test Shows Positive Race Run on October 22 TORONTO Ont Oct 25 The following communication was received from the Met ¬ ropolitan Racing Association yesterday yesterdayAt At a meeting of the stewards of the Met ¬ ropolitan Racing Association of Canada Limited held at 56 King Street West on October 25 at which were present Messrs J H Evans Edwin Allen and C H Kemp the latter reported that association had re ¬ ceived notice from the secretary of the In ¬ corporated Canadian Racing Association to the effect that Dr Lucas had reported a positive test in regard to the horse Batting Eye owned and trained by Mr L Supre nant which ran in the seventh race at Duf ferin Park Saturday October 22 22In In the absence of the presiding steward Mr P C Galliger the stewards ruled that the matter be referred to the Incorporated Canadian Racing Association to be dealt with at its next meeting in the best in ¬ terests of racing racingThe The stewards further ruled pursuant to the provisions of the amended rule of the Incorporated Canadian Racing Association of October 3 1938 that the horse Batting Eye be disqualified and that the owner L Suprenant shall not be entitled to any share of the purse and that the horses in subse ¬ quent positions to the disqualified horse Bat ¬ ting Eye shall move up one position positionThe The stewards further ruled that the as ¬ sociation should deal with the purse in ac ¬ cordance with the above ruling and that Mr L Suprenant be notified thereof thereofSigned Signed J H Evans Edwin Allen C H Kemp Stewards
