DOWNS OFFICE OPENED i Larry Bogenschutz Paves Way for Arrival of William Shelley Assistant Racing Secretary Begins BeginsTask Task of Registering Horses for forComing Coming Louisville Meeting LOUISVILLE Ky Oct 25 Larry Bogen schutz assistant racing secretary at Church Ill Downs opened the office of racing secre ¬ tary William Shelley today Shelley who Is at Narragansett is not expected to reach here until Friday morning at which time he i will arrange his program for the opening of the seven days of racing beginning Saturday SaturdayHorsemen Horsemen responded readily to the request made by Bogenschutz to register their horses as soon as it was possible to do so Tues ¬ day morning Bogenschutz had accepted thirtyfive registrations with more expected to be placed in his hands this afternoon afternoonChurchill Churchill Downs took on a racy appear ¬ ance this morning with the activity about the track Workmen were all over the spa ¬ cious grounds putting the plant in condition for the opening while horsemen who have been resting their horses began to work their charges More than 100 horses were on the track this morning for light work with much stiffer preparations due before the opening of the local fall session sessionTrack Track superintendent Tom B Young was elated over the rain which fell here Sunday afternoon and continued through early Mon ¬ day morning According to Young it was just what he needed to pack the track since there has been very little rain in this vicinity for some time Churchill Downs racing strip will be at its best for the opening with the present good weather continuing for the balance of the week weekKEENELAND KEENELAND PARK ARRIVALS ARRIVALSHorses Horses came in fast today by van from Keeneland Park which kept Cliff Burke busy placing them in their stalls Among eome of the horsemen to reach here Tues ¬ day morning were George Brooks with the Shady Brook Farm stable consisting of Visigoth Cherovan Ostrogoth Facula La Gata Azafran and Timeful The public stable of Charles H Ferguson including Pierre Andre Epidor Steady Don Doc Jock and Brilliant Nell also found quarters here hereR R Wingfield arrived with Catchem and Chenault which he is training for his wife and Brentwood Lad the property of Fred Hallam while Harry Louden checked in with 1 Santo Domingo and So Blue for J C Stone StoneThe The Brown Hotel Stable locally owned outfit in charge of Tom Sanford was vanned over from Keeneland today and consisted of Ours Quick Quick The Greeter Brown Cor ¬ ner Dont Disturb and At Home Several others at River Downs are expected to join the main division the latter part of the week according to trainer Sanford
