MISS DOLPHIN, rushed into a contending position on the inside in the opening quarter, was steadied rounding the turn, drew out approaching the last eighth, but could not withstand the winner. HIJO MANSO, outrun for a half mile, made up ground fast thereafter. MASTERPIECE tired after showing speed for a half mile. MIX WELL lacked speed and failed to threaten in a dull performance. OUR DAVID, never far back and in hand to the last quarter, responded to urging thereafter and finished gamely. JOHN WERRING, never far back, lost ground entering the stretch and finished strongly. MISS MONTE had good speed from the beginning, held on to the last eighth under pressure and then tired. SKIPPY McGEE tired after showing speed for five-eighths. FROST BITE took command on the outside after a quarter, drew out approaching the last eighth and then tired, just failing to last. OKLAQUEEN had good speed from the beginning, responded to urging after a half mile, was in close quarters in the stretch and held on well. JOT-EM-DOWN, under good pressure after a quarter, closed gamely. TIGER JOHN tired after showing good speed for a half mile. RETTEF had no mishaps. ANN STAR raced evenly. GATO was rushed into the lead soon after the start, set the pace under steadying restraint, continued in game fashion, but was unable, to withstand the winner. CHANCE RAY, taken in hand early snd saving ground, was roused in the last three-eighths and showed a good effort. ALAN CHICLE was taken up soon after the start and to the outside, then made up some ground. DNIEPER beean slowly and a made up some ground in the last half mile.
