CIGARET TAX YIELD ALBANY N Y July 24 New York States new cigaret tax yielded nearly two and a quarter million dollars in revenue up to an including July 15 Mark Graves com ¬ missioner of taxation and finance an ¬ nounced today The collections reported in ¬ cluded a tenday period in June prior to the effective date of the tax July 1 The tax is at the rate of one cent for every ten or fraction of ten cigarets The collection fig ¬ ures do not provide a basis for an accurate estimate of what the annual revenue from this tax will be said Commissioner Graves Pointing out that tax stamp sales were heavy during the closing days of June when dealers were required to stamp stocks on hand as of midnight June 30
