Flying Easy Game Winner at Downs DownsRepels Repels Challenges of Both Trade Last and Ubiquitous To Prevail by Head Margin MarginLOUISVILLE LOUISVILLE Ky May 7 The five yearold mare Plying Easy owned by James C Ellis gave a rare exhibition of gameness before a large crowd at Church ¬ ill Downs this afternoon and her courage was rewarded with a thrilling victory over Trade Last Ubiquitous and six others in the John Bull Purse which served as the days feature race The daughter of Matadi bred by her trainer W C Weant took a short lead entering the home stretch and then stood a furious drive at the hands of Nick Jemas to be home in front by a neck at the end of six and a half furlongs as Trade Last beat Ubiquitous a nose for the place placeFlying Flying Easy who was installed the pub ¬ lic choice on the strength of her victory over a similar field some 10 days ago fol ¬ lowed Clarksvilles pace to the homestretch and then forged to the front herself In taking command she shook off the early pacemaker but then Ubiquitous and a lit ¬ tle farther on Trade Last moved up to challenge her For a time it appeared one or both of them might pass the Ellis mare but she stuck gamely to her guns to earn top honors Her time for the distance made on a good track was 119 119In In presenting his bid Trade Last came from far back in the field of nine but Ubiquitous was among the leaders from the beginning beginningClarksville Clarksville Falters in Drive DriveClarksville Clarksville had little left after his dis ¬ play of early speed and in finishing fourth he was five lengths off the leaders at the wire wireTomluta Tomluta and Sis Baker displayed some early speed here but they too faded upon reaching the final quarter quarterFlying Flying Easy paid 540 for 2 in the mutuels mutuelsMilky Milky Way Farms Red Wonder third to Whirlabout and Miss Valor in the Debu ¬ tante Stakes here during Derby Week scored her second victory in four starts when she beat five other twoyearold fillies in the Waterwild Farm Purse a five furlong dash presented as the fourth race Unable to keep up early but saving ground all the way Red Wonder forged to the front approaching the last eighth and then drew clear to win by a length and onehalf Darby Delilah had to race wide through ¬ out but she was good enough to be second as Lunch Date finished third M N Gon ¬ zalez piloted the Milky Way Farm filly fillyAnother Another interesting affair earlier in the day was the sixfurlong third race styled the Taylorsville Purse and it produced a rousing finish in which Last Gold Joan T and The Finest raced under the wire one two three separated only by heads headsD D C Wilhelms Gambit and apprentice Robert Reaves accounted for the sixth race a run of a mile and one furlong by a mat ¬ ter of inches It was that geldings second straight win and it deprived Isaroma who finished second of his fourth success in a row Burning Stick wound up third
