Nancy Fly Leaves NonWinner Ranks RanksTakes Takes Measure of Rekiaw Bagnell at Sportsmans Harv Aethel Meets Mishap MishapCICERO CICERO 111 May 10 Nancy Fly Ten ¬ nesseebred daughter of Hecla Little Edith found a sloppy track to her liking at Sportsmans tPark today and carried T L Murrays blue banner to its first success She raced Reklaw into submission soon after threesixteenths of the four and one half furlongs were passed and kept under pressure by P Kirkpatrick came to the final marker with a length and onehalf to spare Reklaw held on well to be the runnerup and Bagnell was third thirdHarv Harv Aethel was the favorite but he was eliminated when Sweet Victory ducked out at the turn and collided into him The favorite was quick to recover but the effort took too much from him and he gave way rapidly in the drive driveNine Nine juveniles accepted in the dash fashioned for maiden juveniles and Sister Laura was the first to commence But she gave way quickly with Reklaw and Nancy Fly leading the pack at the turn Bagnell moved into contention after avoiding the mishap at the bend but she was always far in the leaders wake and only lasted to beat Captain Joe by a half length for third thirdForced Forced to be eased to avoid the mishap Sir Date raced well back to the stretch where he made up little ground groundAxelson Axelson Rewards Talent Talentin in another of the several exciting fin ¬ ishes B M Smiths Axelson chalked up the first success for the talent by downing Padra Girl in the fourth race Coming from well back and with D Hauer aboard the mudrunning and aging son of Axel stein was sent to the outside of Padra Girl soon after entering the stretch and he gained the verdict in the final stride Grand Appeal was third thirdWith With the inexperienced W Miller han ¬ dling her Padra Girl was the first in mo ¬ tion and she held a clear lead concluding the initial threesixteenths Entering the back stretch Padra Girl ran out and Grand Appeal was able to overcome a strong threat However Padra Girl was soon straightened and she held a comfort ¬ able advantage as the field swung into the home lane laneThere There were no excuses for Chicwin and Juliet C for whom there was good support and Bold Miss quit badly after three eighths eighthsDelayed Delayed when Athens Maid had to be started from outside of the gate and marred by Hasty Star a strongly backed backedContinued Continued on Page TwentySeven Nancy Fly Graduates In Sportsmans Sprint SprintReklaw Reklaw Beaten Length and Half As Harv Aethel Meets Mishap Continued from Page One Onechoice choice running out entering the final three of the five furlongs the opening race re ¬ sulted in a big surprise and the first victory in nearly two years for Karl Mayers Estrellita Helen Agnes who reached the lead by wearing down Canfield in the drive lasted for second honors and Canfield was third thirdShowing Showing a preference for the sloppy track and running back to his previous fine effort E B Coweys Due Sport scored his first victory of the year when he was up in the final stride of the fivefurlong sec ¬ ond race to score over Gayle F Mistletoe the favorite was third thirdStage Stage Door completed a double for Bar ¬ ney and the favorites when she was a frontrunning winner of the fifth race Dairyman was second at the end of the six and onehalf furlongs and Charnock came from far back to garner third honors
