► 4 Thirteen Seek Honors in Primer, Arlingtons First Juvenile Stake Occupy, Ogham, Black Swan? Alorter and Albuldo Among Those Named for Headliner HOME WOOD, 111., June 23.— Thirteen two-year-olds, three of them already with stakes victories to their credit, are to tangle in the ,000 Primer Stakes at five and a half furlongs at Washington Park tomorrow. The Primer is the first of several important tune-up engagements for juveniles who are pointing for such enriched features as the Arlington Lassie Stakes, Arlington Futurity, Washington Park Juvenile Stakes and the Washington Park Futurity, and among those listed as contestants tomorrow are some of the brightest freshman prospects 1943 racing in the Middle West has produced. The three youngsters who tomorrow will be gunning for their second stakes victories are A. C. Ernsts Alorter, hero of the recent Joliet Stakes at Hawthorne, Mrs. Helen Primer Primer Stakes, Stakes, ,000, ,000, Two-Yea.-Olds, Two-Yea.--01ds, Five Five and and One-Half One-Half Furlongs. Millers Ogham, winner of Keenelands Lafayette Stakes and unbeaten in three starts, and Max Marmorsteins Black Swan, who distinguished himself by capturing the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs. No less highly regarded is a fourth member of the Primer Stakes field, John Marschs Occupy, the fleet-footed full brother of Occupation, who was a romping winner of each of his only two races at Hawthorne. The widely* publicized Occupy will try tomorrow to succeed where his illustrious brother failed, for Occupation was second to Littletown in the Primer a year ago. The Marsch hand for a Primer Stakes victory is especially strong, for this Chicago establishment also will strike tomorrow with Broadcloth, another youngster who has shown much. He was winner of each of his last two starts, his first try resulting in defeat in a race in which Occupy was the winner. That the Marsch colts, who are almost certain to rule the favorites tomorrow, are ready was seen during the training hours this morning when both indulged in short drills. Occupy, once more displaying his characteristic high speed, stepped three furlongs in :3435, while Broadcloth breezed over the same ground in :382- . Others scheduled to take part in tomorrows feature are Mrs. Albert Sabaths Civil Liberty and American Flyer, Ernsts Albuldo, John M. The Primer Stakes will be watched with keen interest because of its relation to the Lassie Stakes and Arlington Futurity, for nearly all of those in tomorrows dash are eligible for one, the other or both of these rich fixtures. The Primer tops a splendid week day program and it may attract the biggest crowd Washington Park has entertained since the meeting opened Monday.
