Gay Bit Certain for Derby LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 1.— Before leav-I ing today for Baltimore. Al "Spec" Dunne, trainer of the Bobanet Stable, assured friends that the stables Gay Bit. one of the better three-year-olds of the winter season, is "one of the surer starters in the Kentucky Derby." The Gay Monarch gelding has done well at Pimlico. where he will start in the Chesapeake Stakes before returning to Kentucky for his Derby engagement on May 6. Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Livie of Baltimore. Gay Bit first projected himself into the turf spotlight when he won several races at Churchill Downs here last fall. Following the close of racing here he was purchased by his present owners, whose colors he carried with distinction at New Orleans during the winter.
