Report Merritt Case Hearing Soon After New York Opening NEW YORK. N. Y., April 1.— It is relia- I bly reported that the rehearing of the case of jockey Robert Merritt before the joint board of the New York State Racing Com- mission and two stewards of The Jockey Club, ordered by the Appellate Division of the State Supreme Court, will be held a few days after the opening of the New York season on April 8. » Several witnesses, including jockeys and officials, are in Florida and Mexico, while ■saw of the joint board are also out of the city, but all are expected to be in New York on or about April 8. Meanwhile, Merritts application for a 1944 riding license is in abeyance. He was not granted a license in 1943.
