I | I Tropical Pari-Mutuel Clerks Attempt to Organize Strike CORAL GABLES. Fla., April 1.— When some 50 of the pari-mutuel crew at Tropical Park this afternoon attempted to organize a strike, shortly before opening time for that department, there was some confusion before the windows were manned to carry on the business. It was a strike for a salarly raise and some of those out complained that certain of the employees had received a raise while others were at the old salary. General manager Gerald Brady said that no complaint had been made to him or to the association as far as he knew and that the association was willing to take up the question of salary increase with the War Labor Board but that nothing could be done about it in any other manner. In the meantime most of the 110 em- ployees took no part in the strike and after taking on others that were available, the window! were opened for business but not until considerable time had been lost. There was no disorder and A. J. "Jack" Cleary, who is the state steward, told vari- , , ous of the striking clerks that he would cancel their employment license if they persisted in striking at such a late hour . and without having made a formal demand for the salary increase that brought about the dissension.
