It is understood that Longden again will ride for the Mrs. John Hertz stable and, of course, be in the saddle when the cham- j.pion, Count Fleet, goes postv ard. Longden was the leading money-winn:rg and stake- winning rider in 1943. Woolf, who projected himself into the spotlight at the Homewocd course last [summer, when he rode the wlunefl of four stakes within a period of 11 d?ys, including jAskmenow in the American Derby, likely will follow his practice in 1 pcent years of riding free lance and have the choice in stake engagements. With Con McCreary uncei contract to Warren Wrights Calumet Farm, the Homewood track fans w ill see another top- notch rider in action. McCi eary rode 22 stake winners, more than any other reins-1 man, in 1943. but was behind longden in elthe amount of money won. As Greentree Stable has rcminations for the Arlington Classic and American Derby, as well as the major juvenile stakes, stable rider Eddie Arcaro likely will get some rid-ing assignments here.
