. I j Amber Light, Sixteen Mates Arrive at Downs Hodgins to Point Star of Dixiana Barn for Stakes at Both Meetings LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 6. — Amber Light, winner of the 1943 renewal of the Louisiana Derby under the solferino and buff colors of Charles T. Fishers Dixiana, topped the stable of 17 horses Jack Hod-gins brought to Churchill Downs. Hodgins has been at the Fayette County nursery for several weeks, selecting the young horses to augment the stable he campaigned at New Orleans and Oaklawn Park and also to turn out several head that will be given a good rest before rejoining the stable at Detroit. While not quite as successful in winter racing as it was in 1943, when Amber Light was making it interesting for other three-year-olds, Dixiana enjoyed a good season and, with several promising juveniles to strengthen the band, Hodgins looks forward to a fine year. Amber Light will make his initial appearance of the transplanted Keeneland meeting on opening day, Saturday, April 15. The four-year-old son of Pilate and Red Sunset won three races during the winter, one of which was the Mayor Leo P. McLaughlin Inaugural Handicap, which featured Oaklawn Parks opening duy presentation. His first engagement here will be in the Phoenix Handicap. He also is eligible to the Churchill Downs and Kentucky Handicaps and in between these stake runnings probably will contest in overnight handicaps or allowance races. Dixiana has made entries to the other stakes to be renewed during the 31 -day meet, which includes a six-day War Relief session, and at the close Hodgins again will invade Detroit. Other horses Hodgiris will have under his direction are Above All, Kona Wind, Adda Pearl, Empty Plate. Handy Lady, Happy Factor, Spy Snare, Weeone, Beaucaire, Little Pris, Royal Red, Bold Woof, Our Sponsor, Subrosa, an unnamed daughter of Sweep All and Far Star, arid an unnamed colt by Supremus.
