Snow Blankets Empire Tracks NEW YORK, N. Y., April 6.— A mantle of snow from three to eight inches deep prevented workouts at Belmont, Aqueduct and Jamaica today. A number of horses galloped at Jamaica, but trainers feared the snow would "ball," with the consequent danger of horses bowing, so there were no speed trials. Conditioners felt it was better to miss a breeze than risk a bow. There was no activity whatever at Belmont during the morning, except of those horses able to gallop under sheds, but a number Of trainers hoped to get their charges out in the afternoon. * i ; I i i r t
