It is in the supporting races that there found a surprisingly array of classy talent, the surprise being occasioned only became the stakes were late in closing and because, for the first time, Pimlico will be bucking Belmont Park due to its late run- ; ning of the Preakness. For instance, in the 0,000 Dixie Hand- icap. at a mile and three-sixteenths, and i which is being run in direct opposition to Belmont Parks 0,000 Suburban, there were 19 nominations and this was the same number eligible for the New York stake. While 10 of the eligibles are named for both stakes, at least two of them, Charles Turner s Bon Jour and Christiana Stables Megogo definitely are pointing for the Dixie. Those not named for the Suburban include Alfios. Gay Bit, Dare Me, He Rolls, Momo Flag. Professor Lee, Harford. New Moon and Lord Calvert, a sufficient number to insure a well filled and well matched field. ! W. L. Branns Gallorette. second to Jeep in one division of the recent Wood Memorial at Jamaica, heads 24 three-year-old fillies nominated for. the 0,000 Pimlico I Oaks at a mile and a sixteenth. Other star misses named for this Preak-ness Day attraction include I. Biebers j Bertie S.. E. R. Bradleys Be Faithful, Fox-catcher Farms Surosa, Greentrees Expression, William Helis Elpis, Louisiana Farms Lucky Aunt. Walmac Farms Wallflower and C. V. Whitneys Monsoon. Two ,000 fixtures complete the five stakes which will be run. These are the Jennings, at six furlongs and for seasoned sprinters, and the Nursery, a dash of four land a half furlongs for two-year-olds.
