I Night Shadow Faces Ten Fast Foes in Elmhurst Meets Take Wing, Challenge Me While Seeking Third Win in Row STICKNEY, 111., June 6.— Mrs. Robert McGarveys Night Shadow, winner of her last two engagements, will try for a third victory in a row in the Elmhurst Purse which is to be presented as the feature of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Clubs program at Hawthorne tomorrow. The race will be decided over six and a half furlongs and in it Night shadow is to be opposed by 10 rivals. Night Shadow, who accounted for the Sophie Tucker Handicap at Sportsmans Park, more recently won the Beverly Purse here at Hawthorne. She won this latter event decisively, leading home such capable sprinters as Rush Act, Don Devito, Fair Sand. Loyal and Vinum. In the Elmhurst Purse, however, her op- position may be somewhat tougher, for among those she is scheduled to tackle are Take Wing, Challenge Me, Signals Bloke, Whose. Final Glory and Some Man, several of them nominees for Saturdays Steger Handicap. Take Wing will be making his first stark of the year and before the end of the meeting may be competing in stakes. He was not nominated for the Steger, but may be entered in either or both the La Salle and Lincoln Handicaps, Lincoln Fields last two added money features. Later, he will set his sights on the turf course stakes on the summer program at Washington Park. He won the Meadowland Handicap thera last year. The principal supporting attraction tomorrow is the Lafayette Purse, another sprint of six and a half furlongs. Exclusively for three-year-olds, this event drew seven contestants. They are Tough Target, Miss Observer, Lucky Colonel, F. S. Munns, Meadow Lark, Donna Brand and Edgar B. Another interesting race tomorrow is the Bellwood Purse at a mile and 70 yards in which such horses as Don Devito, Fiery Justice, Starcress, Miss Transit and Strom-bus are to take part.
