i Quizzle Will Be Starting Top Weight I In Steger Renewal Under 123 Pounds ] t l , j ] , j j ; i j , | i , Occupy Assigned Highest * Impost of 126 but Wont Keep Engagement in Race STICKNEY, 111., June 6. — With John Marschs Occupy not intended to start in the stake, A. S. Higgins Quizzle inherits ■hurling top weight for the ,000 added Stager Handicap, which will be presented by the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club at Hawthorne on Saturday-. The Higgins seven-year-old drew an assignment of 123 pounds, which is three less than Occupy would have had to carry had he been shipped here from Louisville for the race. Quizzle s impost represents an increase of two pounds over the weight he carried in winning the Crete Handicap and six more than he shouldered when he raced Mrs. Frank Nugent s Espino Gold to a dead heat for top money in the longer Francis S. Pea-body Memorial Handicap. Espino Gold, also an eligible for the Steger which will be decided over six and a half furlongs, has been assigned 115 pounds, one more than he carried in the Peabody. Rated closest to Quizzle are the Brolite Farms Challenge Me and Ruth Sidells Burgoo Maid, each of whom must pick up 118 pounds, while next is S. D. Sidells St. Jock with 116 pounds. Bracketed with Espino Gold under 115, are Leon Tikulskis Icangetit and Holdall. From there the weights scale downward to 100 for Mrs. Emil Denemarks Signals Bloke. Twenty-one three-year-olds and older horses are eligible for Saturdays sprint and if the track remains fast, as many as 15 of them may be in the starting lineup. Much interest will attach to the performance of Icangetit, who later may be a challenger for mid-western three-year-old honors. In his only start this year, he won the six-furlong LaGrange Handicap and had his connections been able to get a longer race under him he might have been j 1 a starter in Saturdays Kentucky Derby in- j , stead of the Steger. 0 I In the light of his recent achievements Quizzle is expected to rule the favorite j , Saturday. He is unbeaten in his only four 1 I engagements this year and has shown that I j , he can not only handle any kind of a h j track but any distance as well. The Crete i , was contested over six furlongs and the Peabody Memorial over a mile and a six- , teenth. The complete list of weights for the I Steger follows: Horse. Wt. Horse. Wt.
