I Kentucky Notes CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., June 7. Jockey Stanley Freeman, who was in- ] jured in a fall before Churchill Downs opened for the Keeneland meeting, re-turned to colors this afternoon, filling a single engagement. Ernest White, veteran pari-mutuel department head, leaves Tuesday for Seattle, where he will again supervise betting during the coming meeting at the Longacres ! course, opening June 23 for a season of II days. Mrs. R. Q. Burman has sold the four-year-old Lestabert to W. Wilkerson, who has been training the racer. Harry C. Hatch, owner of the Derby entry, Fair Jester, will be here for several days. Besides Fair Jester, trainer Cecil Howard has four others here for the Canadian distiller and sportsman. The Jay Paley horses, headed by the three-year-old Best Effort, may get away tomorrow on the long trip to Santa Anita. They will leave consigned to Hurst Philpot, who has others owned by the same patron at the Arcadia track. The assignment of delineating the Derby running for the millions of service men readers of Yank has been turned over to Cpl. Thomas Shehan, by Sgt. Joseph McCarthy, managing editor of that publication. Charles A. ONeil. local and Miami business man and an owner and breeder, has been here for several days. His horses are campaigning in the East. With him is his brother, Roscoe ONeil. Del Holman, owner of Pilot Knob Farm, reports the 15 sucklings by Hayride, son of Stimulus, all thriving at his Tennessee place. Another stallion there is Four Freedoms, who recently concluded his first season at stud when he was mated with his thirty-second mare.
