POMPEY CORNERS went around the leaders to reach contention and was up to win in the final stride. SIR ECHO was eased slightly when in close quarters near the quarter post, took the lead in the stretch, but could not hold it. MIGHTIEST shook off AMPERAGE, took a cleir advantage and held on well. WISE-SHOT raced close to the leaders, but was carried wide into the stretch. LA REINETTE was shuffled back at the quarter post. AMPERAGE was done early. HICCUP flashed early speed. OUR VICTORY was going easily while nearest the leader, swung wide entering the stretch and was drawing away at the end. POMPION was sprinted into command at once, was well rated, but was not good enough when challenged. ASK AUNT ADA, off in the center of the pace and in close quarters soon after the break, failed to improve her position. TENEBROSE raced within striking distance, but apparently was anchored by weight. BEGGAR, closer than usual early, failed to rally when under pressure. GIRLETTE was overmatched. FLAREBACK was not punished when horses moved by him on the turn, moved through on the inside to reach serious contention in the early stretch, then drew clear rapidly while being ridden out. ZAX was taken back in the early stages, saved ground to the stretch, went around the leader to take command briefly inside the eighth post, but was no match for the winner. RIAR RED assumed command in the opening eighth, held sway to midstretch, then folded up. SHAKO was used up earlv. GINOKUM flashed speed in the run down the backstretch. GOODROB moved through on the inside to draw clear on the turn, was hard ridden in the closing test and just lasted over GORGET. The latter, probably best, was shuffled back on the turn, came to the outside entering the stretch and was catching the winner with each stride. ABRASION moved up on the outside around the turn and may have been closer, but for bearing out slightly in the drive. SMILING LASS tired after moving nearest the leader at the eighth post. The latter was within striking distance from the start, loomed dangerous in the early stretch, then hung under pressure. LORD CALVERT, under double wraps while nearest the leader, took command between calls, then flattened out in the closing test. HARFORD closed willingly after being badly-outrun for three quarters. LOST AND FOUND sprinted into a lengthy lead early, was perfectly rated and just lasted under a poweiful ride. POMPA NEGRI was unhurried early, moved with determination in the stretch run and was getting to the winner. QUESTION MISS rallied well in the closing eighth. TIDES IN showed a fair effort under pressure. RING MASTER made a mild bid along the backstretch and continued on fairly well. DUDIE quit badly after racing in contention most of the way. WISE TIMMIE moved up menacingly entering the stretch and finished well. VALDINA BRAVE was u«.ed up making the early pace. TRACTION had no mishaps.
