Gay Dalton Makes Santa Anita Bow Before Crowd of 50,000 ARCADIA, Calif., June 16.— An excep- j tionally fine program headed by the 0,-000 Santa Catalina Handicap for Califor-nia-breds and marking the first appear-■HOC at Santa Anita of Gay Dalton, the j Mexico City champion, attracted a crowd of about 50,000 to the Arcadia course today. Thumbs Up, With Regards and Bull Reigh, all popular horses in this section, were among those to oppose Gay Dalton. Summer-like weather prevailed, with the thermometer hovering around the 85 -mark. The arrival of Bymeabond, who was prominent in the early stages of the Kentucky Derby and who will be a starter in the Santa Anita Derby next Saturday, created much interest in the stable area. Trainer W. B. Stucki reported the Bradley-bred shipped in good style. Busher, Louis B. Mayers fine filly, rules as first choice for the Derby, with Sea Sovereign, Charles S. Howards homebred the second choice.
