Two Juvenile Filly Stakes Draw Well Total of 145 Made Eligible For Arlington Lassie, With 143 Named for Princess Pat A total of 145 two-year-old fillies have i been made eligible for the 0,000 Arlington j Lassie and 143 for the Princess Pat, with the same value, the Arlington Park Jockey Club and Washington Park Jockey Club announced Saturday. Included in the list are all the top-priced fillies of the 1944 yearling sales. Judging from the size of the j eligibility lists, each stake will have an approximate gross value of 5,000. Both to J be run at six furlongs, the Lassie will be renewed Wednesday, July 18, and the j Princess Pat on Saturday, August 11. Warren Wrights Calumet Farm has j named six fillies for both stakes, including ! the Sir Gallahad III. filly Red Top, at j 3,700. the most costly yearling of her j sex. Wright has also nominated the home- j breds Altair, a half-sister to the 1944 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner. Pensive, | and Avenue Bell, a full sister to Some j Chance, victor in the 1941 Belmont Fu- I turity and second in the Arlington Futurity. Maine Chance Nominates Sextet Six of the seven fillies nominated by Mrs. Elizabeth N. Graham"s Maine Chance Farm, cost a total of 04,000 at the 1944 auctions, Among them are the half-sister to the ill-fated Sky Larking, named Beaugay, recent winner of the Fashion Stakes in New York, and Gay Garland, both 2,000 yearlings. The latter is a half-sister of the noted distance runner Bolingbroke. Beaugay is a daughter of Stimulus, who is also the sire of Incitelle, the 8,500 filly nominated by William Helis. Crispin Oglebay.the steamship magnate of Cleveland, has named Holiday Girl, a 0,000 yearling, and Mrs. E. E. Dale Shaffer, whose husband is a former Chicagoan and now owner of Coldstream Stud in Kentucky, is represented by Dustabout, a 7,300 purchase and a half-sister of Whirlabout, winner of the 1943 Princess Pat. John Marsch, whose colts Free for All, Occupy, Occupation and Jezrahel, have accounted for six Futurities at Arlington and Washington Park, has named three, including a Bull Dog filly who cost 5,000. Col. C. V. Whitney has nominated six, including the Boojum filly, Enfilade, winner of the Rosedale Stakes in New York, and Mush Mush, a full sister of the Wood Memorial winner, Jeep, and half-sister of Traffic Court, who won the Beverly Handicap last year at Washington Park. Fred W. Hooper, owner of Hoop Jr., has named two. One of them, Little Lea, is a Bull Lea filly who sold for 6,000.
