QUEEN FLASH was hustled to the front at once, was steadied there while saving ground and had enough left to hold HI BERT safe under hard urging. HI BERT, under restraint early, moved up with a rush on the outside through the stretch and was wearing down the winner. ALANAY raced forwardly and evenly and held on stubbornly. CRAZY WHIRL moved up quickly between horses in the stretch and closed fast. RISKAIRE, slow to settle in stride, made up a little ground. RED TORCH was never a factor in a very dull effort. GAY FRANKA, much the best, took a short lead at once, was steadied along until straight in the stretch, then drew out easily when called upon. HAPPY JOAN, under restraint early, moved into closer contention entering the stretch, was no match for the winner, but withstood a stiff challenge from OLD IRON. The latter, very slow to settle in best stride, moved up with a rush on the outside on the turn and closed fast. ELIZA JANE raced evenly, but was never dangerous ANTHEM displayed some early speed, but flattened out badly. Gay Franka claimed by Mrs. L. Wolf. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. TAKE COURAGE, on the outside all the way, closed with a rush and was wearing down the winner. VICTIM, a forward factor from the beginning, moved up stoutly in the stretch, then hung. ROMULUS, very slow to settle in stride, closed a good gap. DAVID B. JR. was never prominent. CLAREMONT MISS had early speed to set the pace and saved ground, but quit suddenly. PHARAWELL, away well, was permitted to drop back, responded well when sharply roused to go around on the outside and closed well, but was not good enough. WALTERS BOY lacked early speed, improved his position when called upon on the final turn and closed stoutly. BERT G. moved up to challenge on the turn and hung on stubbornly DODOS GIRL had early speed, but quit badly. Attendance, 12,659; Total Mutuel Pool, 84,175.
