VALDINA GREEDY worked way up on the outside to gain a contending position Entering the stretch, continued on while racing wide, caught the leaders in the final sixteenth and drew out at the end. BALMY SPRING broke readily, remained with the pace under light urging and closed gamely under stout handling. HY-GAY was kept close to the pace while saving ground, slipped through on the inside entering the stretch, obtained a slight lead, then faltered while trying to bear out in the final furlong. ELMO GRIER was sent up fast on the inside to assume command in the first quarter, then held on well when displaced. IDLE FOOL failed to rally when put to pressure in the final furlong. PARK HEIGHTS, racing in improved form, was rushed into contention in the first quarter, then was eased back off the leaders rounding the far turn and rallied under stout handling to draw out in the final seventy yards. GRAY VICTORY broke alertly, was urged to shake off opposition in the. first half mile, drew clear and came wide entering the stretch, then held on under intermittent pressure, only to falter in the final strides. GUN BEARER closed fast after being outrun the firstf half mile. TIME STITCH was hard ridden to remain with the pace, loomed as a threat nearing the final furlong pole, then faltered. NIGHT EDITOR saved ground while making his -move, but was not good enough. ARTHUR J. weakened after a half mile. JIMS JEANIE was unable to keep up. RENRAW trailed throughout. WAYNE L. was quick to begin, assumed command in the first quarter, shook off SISTER G. when straightened in the stretch and drew out under pressure. JOAN ELISE was kept within striking distance while racing on the outside, rallied mildly nearing the furlong pole, but was unable to reach the winner. SISTER G. saved ground while forcing the pace and held on tenaciously under stout handling. TOPPER moved up to challenge the leaders rounding the far turn, lost ground entering the stretch, then held on to earn a dead-heat with SISTER G. PRINCE CANTER closed some ground in the final stages. MISS OBLOCKY was unable to keep up. JANEMOH had no mishap. JOYCE MATHEWS broke slowly and was never a factor. GLAD HADAGAL quit after brief speed. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and thirds the same. LUSTY TIDBIT, well handled when outrun early, saved ground entering the final quarter, responded to strong handling while moving between horses in the final sixteenth and was up in the last stride. FORE AND AFT, in closest attendance of PAY ME, followed the former wide on the turn, recovered to take command, weakened nearing the sixteenth post, then came again nearing the finish. HONEYTOWN, under light urging to remain within striking distance, saved ground on the final turn, rallied to challenge FORE AND AFT nearing the sixteenth post, then hung, but held on for a dead-heat for third. TIM B., closer up than usual and under a tight hold for six furlongs, came through on the inside, moved to the leaders, then faltered under intermittent pressure. PAY ME was hustled to assume command on the first turn, saved ground while setting the pace, then began bearing out leaving the three-furlong post and finished on the extreme outside. WAGON BOSS went evenly. BETTY- QUEEN was never prominent. MARLED and UNDERTOW were outrun. DINNER PARTY, closer to the pace than usual, began moving up on the outside after five furlongs, came around the leaders entering the stretch i and was under a steady drive while widening advantage. BILL HARDEY, hustled going to the first turn to be in closest attendance of the pace, was taken under light restraint until midway of the far turn, then rallied mildly nearing the furlong pole and held on well. MISS BALLADIER was allowed to drop back the first half mile, then closed gamely under intermittent pressure while lugging in through the stretch. LINWOOD JIM, under a tight hold while within striking distance, came through between horses leaving the quarter pole, closed resolutely while being bothered slightly by MISS BALLADIER, then faltered in the final strides. T00LMAKER closed with a rush from far back, but was unable to reach serious contention. GAY GINO tired after setting a sizzling pace for a mile. MARKSMAN was unable to keep up. INCOMING was outrun. APROPIADO, in hand while within striking distance, responded to steady urging entering the stretch and wore down the leaders inside the final sixteenth to draw out at the end. JOHNNY JR. was hustled from his outside position to gain a contending position on the outside going to the half-mile pole, remained flanked on the leaders to the sixteenth pole, then held on gamely, but was unable to wihstand the winner. ELLIS broke smartly, saved ground while under a snug hold, was taken back rounding the final turn when the field bunched, then rallied under light urging to regain a short lead, only to falter in the final strides. SPANGLED GAME, outrun for a half mile, worked way up on the outside to close with a burst of speed through the stretch. WEST FLEET remained with the pace to the furlong pole, then weakened slightly under steady urging. SOLLURE was sent up fast between horses after a half mile and assumed command, but was unable to shake off the top three, then weakened in the final furlong. FLOAT ME went evenly and had no mishap. ADONIS was favorably placed during the first half mile, then weakened. WINSOME LAD showed nothing. HAMMER-LOCK was through after a quarter. VALDIVIA, under a tight hold for sixfurlongs, began working way up on the outside to gain a prominent position nearing the furlong pole, then was sent between horses under steady urging to catch the leaders nearing the sixteenth pole and drew out HERO MINE moved fast leaving the quarter pole, loomed as a decided menace, then hung during the final seventy yards. AIRY GOER, favorably placed while saving ground, failed to rally when put to a drive. OXFORD BLUE close up early, assumed command midway of the final turn, then flattened out under steady urging. REST AWHILE refused to extend himself. DARBY DIADEM was outrun.
