Mayer Purchases Two Horses in Argentina HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 17. Louis B. Mayer, motion picture executive, has purchased two handicap horses in the Argentine. The two new Mayer acquisitions are a brown colt named Battant, by Parwiz out of La Cloche, and a dark gray colt named Talon by the French stallion Pantalon out of Guetaria. Both horses are three-year-olds in . Argentina, but automatically be-come four-year-olds in this country. Both horses have been racing in handicap events in South America and upon their arrival here by boat will be turned over to trainer Grace-ton Philpot for additional seasoning and undoubtedly will be seen in action within the next few months, probably at either Arlington Park or Washington Park in Chicago, where the Mayer stable will campaign immediately following the close of Hollywood Park.
