Churchill Downs Offers Two Attractions Today TodayPreoccupy Preoccupy and Air Rate Match Strides in Fancy Farm Purse PurseCHURCHILL CHURCHILL DOWNS Louisville Ky May 1 With the running of the Kentucky Derby now a matter of history this historic racing grounds will operate for another 12 days closing its spring meeting on Sat ¬ urday May 15 Seven stakes were decided here during Derby week and although 310 more addedmoney features are scheduled for the remainder of the current season racing secretary Lawrence C Bogenschutz has arranged some excellent overnight events that are expected to attract some of the better thoroughbreds now quartered here hereOn On next Wednesday a sixfurlong hand ¬ icap for threeyearolds and upward is to be run and entries for the spruit are to close on Monday May 3 Handicapper Bogenschutz will post weights for the fea ¬ ture on Tuesday May 4 and a representa ¬ tive field probably will contest the midweek attraction Other than the handicap two allowance events are programmed a one mile and onesixteenth race for fouryear olds and upward and another at the same distance for threeyearolds and upward upwardThe The Hermitage Purse at six furlongs for threeyearolds and the Fancy Farm Purse a sprint at the same route for Jour yearolds and upward are the best offer ¬ ings on the Monday card A dozen shifty members of the threeyearold division are entered for the lierjnitage while il en ¬ trants are named for the Fancy Farm which is sixth on th program The Fancy Farm probably will prove one of the best races of the day as several of the likely starters are at home over the distance John Marschs Preoccupy is a very quick colt and raced smartly last year winning three of his starts against top class companyi Frederick Wyses Air Rate a stakes winner has trained well enough to merit consideration and E R Morris Duck Berry was a frontrunning victor at the recent Keeneland meeting meetingThe The Hermitage certainly will provide a suitable cofeature and Calumet Farms Justa Whirl winner in her only start at the current Churchill Downs meeting will meet some fast rivals Theodore Muellers Shady Brook Farm wUl start Clevelander and Duquesne Mrs Frank P Letelliers Scipio is entered in the dash and William Veenemans Lotoftown also will go post ward in the Mermitage MermitageTrack Track officials expect a good crowd for Mondays racing as many Kentucky Derby visitors plan to remain in Louisville for several more days of rachtg
