Meeting at Lincoln Downs Is Extended for Six Days DaysLINCOLN LINCOLN DOWNS Lincoln R I May 1 Acting upon the request for aif exten ¬ sion of the current race meeting at Lincoln Downs the Rhode Island State Racing Commission yesterday issued a selfexplan ¬ atory statement permitting the Burrillville Racing Association to continue the meeting from May 10 through May 15 15The The statement is as follows followsThe The state racing commission has had under consideration a request of the man ¬ agement of the Burrillville Racing Associa ¬ tion and the Rhode Island branch of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective As ¬ sociation who request the granting of an additional week of racing at Lincoln Downs in order ta compensate the horsemen for the loss suffered as a result of the fire in the stables at Pascbag Park which caused the death of one Stablehand and 34 horses and the complete destruction of all equip ¬ ment Your commission has been advised the management would agree to operate the track at a minimum of expense and that the horsemen have also agreed to ac ¬ cept reduced purses for said week in order to insure that the net profit will be greater and will assure the raising of a sum of 30000 which is the estimated loss result ¬ ing from the fire Any sum raised in ex ¬ cess of 30000 will be credited to the fund set up to assist Rhode Island charities After a full and complete investigation of all the phases connected with said re ¬ quest your commission has this date granted permission for an extension of the spring meeting at Lincoln Downs for six additional days from May 10 to May 15 inclusive inclusiveRhode Rhode Island State Racing Commission By D Thomas Testa TestaThe The petition for the extension of the meeting was initiated by the Rhode Island chaper of thVHBPA which made tHe re ¬ quest to B A Darip executive manager arid treasurer of the Burrillville Racing As ¬ sociation on behalf of thfr horsemenV
