Inter borough Taken by Miss Disco Whips Tavistock Length at Jamaica JamaicaSchupper Schupper Filly Scores Big Upset in 1948 Bow Eternal World Is First in Youthful YouthfulJAMAICA JAMAICA L I N Y May 1 Miss Disco surged up fast on the outside and wore down the leaders to earn the major award in the twentyseventh running of the Interborough Handicap at Jamaica this afternoon Miss DiscoT racing for Sidney S Schupper was ridden by Nichola Combest and at the finish had a length margin over A F Flocks Tavistock while in third place was Kitchen Police racing for Gustave Ring RingNine Nine started in the Interborough which was at six furlongs and carrying an added value of 20000 Miss Disco who was mak ¬ ing her seasonal debut was a neglected factor in the prerace calculations and through her victory earned 15600 The first double stakes offering at Ja ¬ maica attracted a crowd of 44570 to the Baisley Avenue course and overhead condi ¬ tions were good The racing strip was at its best and on the whole interesting rac ¬ ing prevailed with wellplayed horses earn ¬ ing awards awardsThe The start of the Interborough was quick ¬ ly effected and Mangohick Beaugay and AgrarianU cut out theearly running while Miss Disco Blue Border and Miss Kimo brought up the rear with the others sandwiched in between them The early pace was fast and as expected took its toll for rounding to the stretch turn the leaders began to give way Mangohick AgrarianU and Beaugay shortened strides as Tavistock Miss Disco and Kitchen Police began to move up and battle for the lead Through the final furlong Tavistock poked his head in front and then came Miss Disco and Kitchen Police charging up on the outside A few strides from the finish the Schupper representative collared the lead ¬ ers and drove on to win by a length in the good time of 112 Tavistock had a neck margin over Kitchen Police while Buzfuz was a steadygoing fourth fourthOutfinishes Outfinishes Arise AriseA A T Simmons homebred Eternal World ridden by Ted Atkinson responded to pres ¬ sure in the stretch run and outfinished Arise racing for the Torontoowned Addi son Stable in the final strides to take down the major award of 14375 in the Youthful Stakes In third place and two and onehalf lengths back was Blue Peter an invader from the New Jersey area rac ¬ ing for J M Roebling while Mr Jay owned by Mrs M Jolley was fourth fourthThe The start of the Youthful was effected without delay and Eternal World Arise Mr Jay and Blue Peter were the ones to settle into stride and show the way There was little to choose between them as they raced to the far turn but at that point a spreadingout developed Arise and Eternal World drew clear from the others and rounded the final bend on even terms while back of them were Blue Peter and Mr Jay with little margin between them A gap of four lengths separated this quar ¬ tet from Model Cadet and Ennobled while still farther back and negligible factors were Eternal Dream and Mr Tuck When well settled for the stretch run Atkinson drove the Simmons representative along and Arise began to falter as the fjinish was neared However Blue Peter and Mr Jay were done from early efforts and could not threaten the leaders Ennobled came with a belated rush at the end to take fifth place placeEternal Eternal World was accorded extensive support and racked up his second victory in the stake for Simmons as Eternal War took down the test in 1946 Eternal World sped over the distance in 100 C V Whitneys Mount Marcy was an easy winner of the sixth race which was at one and onesixteenth miles Held at pro hibitiv odds the Whitney Preakness can ¬ didate was in hand at the end to show the way to Myrmidon while in third place was Cervantes Six started in this dash Mount Marcy is looked upon as a Preakness starter for the Whitney stable
