Pimlico Yearling Show Will Be Held Thursday ThursdayAlex Alex B Gordon Official Judge Four Classes Have 67 Entrants EntrantsPIMLICO PIMLICO Baltimore Md May 10 Sixtyseven Marylandbred yearlings have been entered for the fourteenth annual Pimlico Yearling Show to be staged on Pimlicos clubhouse lawn Thursday morn ¬ ing May 13 at 10 oclock This figure was released by Henry L Straus president of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association which sponsors the event Straus further revealed that Alex B Gordon long famous as an outstanding judge of thoroughbreds in the raw and trainer of Nellie Morse when that filly won the Preakness some 25 years ago will make the official selections in each of the four classes of the show showThese These classes are for colts and fillies two for each sex the division being be ¬ tween those sired by Maryland stallions and sired elsewhere Each of the four classes will carry a silver trophy for the Winner in addition to the lirize money These trophies are presented by Mary ¬ lands four major racing associations A championship trophy is presented by the breeders organization organizationThe The classes for colts and fillies sired and foaled in Maryland drew by far the most entries with 33 and 24 yearlings showing respectively In the latter class the public is invited to participate in an amateur judging contest with no entry fee but a silver trophy is given the male and female amateur judges wliose first five placihgs come nearest to agreeing with those of judge Gordon GordonWellknown Wellknown Maryland breeders who wfll exhibit include Mrs Van Lear Black G Ray Bryson B Frank Christmas Alan T Clarke Adolph E and John Pons Janon Fisher Jr Mrs Robert H Heighe William H Labrot Breckenridge Long Cleveland Skinker Jouett Shouse Henry L Straus Grant Thorn Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt Mrs Charles W Williams Henry S Hork beimer and Mrs Samuel M Pistorio PistorioWith With few exceptions there will be exhib ¬ ited the get of about all of Marylands stallions who have produce bred in the state that is old enough to be shown Leading the list is Challenger n from Glade Valley Farm with his close rival foi local honors Sagamores Discovery also well represented Saggy s sire Swing andV Sway has a good representation as does the sire of unbeaten Var Lochinvar Abbe Pierre Alaking New World Mr Bones Piping Rockj The Rhymer and Vincentive are among the other sires represented
