Hold Funeral Services For John J Flanigan FlaniganVeteran Veteran Horseman Gained Fame i As Valdina Farm Stable Trainer TrainerLOUISVILLE LOUISVILLE Ky June 8 Final rites for John Joseph Flanigan widely known turfman who passed away Saturday at his home 4909 Southern Parkway were held at the residence and at Holy Name Church this morning with burial in Cal vary Cemetery CemeteryFlanigans Flanigans death was caused by a heart attack and he was 72 years of age ageThe The veteran horseman trained for James Butler Polk Laffoon and the late Emerson Woodwards Valdina Farms during his career and in 1939 he prepared the latter stables Viscounty for the Kentucky Derby He also prepped Valdina Paul for that thoroughbreds effort in the 1941 renewal of the threeyearold classic classicSurviving Surviving are his wife Mrs Julia Flan ¬ igan two sisters Mrs Nora Flanigan and Miss Mary Flanigan both of Delta Colo and two brothers Eugene Flanigan Jer ¬ sey City N J and Martin Flanigan who resides in Charleston W Va VaFlanigans Flanigans only son Lt William Flan ¬ igan lost his life during the Battle of the Bulge and the young officers body is ex ¬ pected momentarily from overseas and it will be interred in the Flanigan plot tt Calvary Cemetery after arrival here
