Peerless Fox Victorious ADELAIDE, Australia. May 10 Reuters. — H." Harzmeyers Peerless Fox, by Fox-bridge out of Whirlmint, today won the Adelaide Cup run over two miles at the Morphetville race track here. Starting at 7 to 4 in the field of 16, Peerless Fox won by a half length from King Comedy, 6 to 1, and Portage, 50 to 1. Peerless Fox, until a few month ago only a trial stakes horse.was today scoring his fifth win in succession. There was doubt about him starting owing to. a slight injury incurred when he lashed out and struck his leg some days ago. He was ridden by E. Preston, former Adelaide newspaper seller who won the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in 1939 on Rivette and Adelaide Cup in 1946 on Little Tich. Owner Harzmeyer is a prominent Melbourne businessman. A crowd of 45,000 watched the race in glorious sunny weather.
