Open Racing Secretarys Office Today At Hawthorne for Lincoln Fields Meet ODonnell States He Hasnt Heard FromHBPAWho Asked Hearing on Purse Outay OutayBy By J SWEENEY GRANT GRANTStaff Staff Correspondent CorrespondentCICERO CICERO 111 May 6 Racing secretary Lawrence C Bogenschutz made known to interested horsemen that his office at Haw ¬ thorne would be open tomorrow morning at which time interested horsemen may register their units for the Lincoln Fields at Hawthorne meeting which is scheduled to get under way Monday May 12 James Tranter Clark member of the official col ¬ ony motored in from Churchill Downs and will assist Bogenschutz Bogenschutz called to the horsemens attention that nomina ¬ tions for the 10000 added Joliet Stakes close Thursday May 8 The fivefurlong dash for twoyearold colts and geldings will be down for decision Saturday May 17 17Peter Peter J ODonnell general manager of the Lincoln Fields Racing Association stated that his track will be in complete readiness for Mondays opening The 10 000 Crete Inaugural Handicap nominal at ¬ traction on the opening days program shapes up as one of the most interesting in its history according to word received from ODonnell A capacity field for the six furlong sprint seems assured Entries for the Crete closed last Saturday but at this time contemplated starters have not been announced Starters are to be named through the entry box the day before the race at the usiual time of closing closingWhen When questioned about the horsemens strike which currently is affecting nearby Sportsmans Park ODonnell said that so far as I know Lincoln Fields has been granted 30 days of racing from Monday May 12 through Saturday June 14 by the Illinois Racing Board and that I and other officials of the association expect to open our meeting as scheduled ODonnell acknowledged that Lincoln Fields several days ago received the customary seven day notice from the central division of the HBPA in regard to purse increases for the forthcoming session Since receiving the notice ODonnell further stated I have not heard from officials of the HBPA for a requested hearing with the management and as far as I know at the present time racing secretary Bogenschutz definitely will have his office open on Saturday morning to take entries for Mondays opening pro ¬ gram gramThe The spring meeting at Lincoln Fieldsat Hawthorne will be featured by the same seven stakes presented as in former years when the meeting was held at Washington Park Following the Crete Inaugural and the Joliet are the 10000 added Edward 3 Fleming Memorial Handicap the 25000 added Peabody Memorial the 10000 add ¬ ed Narcissus Handicap the 10000 added Miss America Stakes and the 10000 add ¬ ed Lincoln Handicap
