A Headley. WENT TO POST-2:32. OFF AT 2:32 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. COURONNE was slow leaving the gate, steadily improved position while racing on the outside and closed with good courage under punishment near the end to catch SUZE SIN. The latter had the most speed from the beginning, set an even pace and just failed to last. SUPREME was briskly ridden while forwardly placed, but breaking stride, then lacked a rally and finished directly behind SUZE SIN. BACCALA was steadied while well placed behind the first flight, then failed to gain when roused for the drive. BIG BAD WOLF had no excuse. STAR SHOOTER was not a serious factor. REINSTATE quit. RED-EMPEROR raced to the leaders on the turn and wrested command entering the stretch, then continued resolutely under punishment and held SLAM THRU safe. The latter was slowest away from the gate, luckily found room rapidly improving position on the inside, but, after drawing abreast of the winne- in midstretch, was tiring and drifted out TO THE FRONT was taken to the inside at the head of the stretch and finished well. TONY PAT JR saved all possible ground. BARTHS-BELLE faltered under brisk handling. NEXT BEST had early speed, but bore out entering the stretch and quit. JACK JAY was done early. BILKAJIM quit. REHEARSER began alertly, quickly challenged CORFEL on the inside after the latter had displaced GRAY FLEET and then increased his advantage while winning easily. CORFEL was steadied after a good start, quickly displaced GRAY FLEET when roused on the far turn, but then was no match for the winner. ALBEMARLE raced prominently placed in an even effort. MARIPOSA was outrun. DRUIDS LYRICS was not a threat. GRAY FLEET had brief speed. GARDEN WALL showed nothing. PUBLICK lost rider when the latter was unprepared for the start. FANCY BONNET was lightly steadied while next to the rail and contending for the lead, drew clear between calls in the early stretch, but could not withstand the winner. TIGER JAY was rushed to the front soon after the start, could not shake free of contention and faltered in the drive. FLYING PAT lacked early speed. BLACK AL quit. ROCKY HEIGHTS was under snug reserve racing along with FLEET ACE, established a commanding lead when roused for the stretch run and was under pressure to hold GIGGLE safe. The latter, well placed behind the leaders, was taken to the middle of the track for clear racing at the head of the stretch and finished determinedly. FLEET ACE was rated setting the early pace but could, not stay with the winner when urged and weakened. STEPCHILD was outrun. GLEN ESK was under pressure and loomed boldly on the stretch turn, dropped back suddenly after entering the stretch and pulled up broken down in the left hind. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. DRY FLY sent to the front at once under pressure, was well ridden and, after setting an even pace, responded to steady handling and outfinished ORIOLE. The latter, a sharp factor, was under prolonged pressure and gradually gained on the winner but was not good enough at the finish BURTS REWARD, unhurried while outrun, closed with belated courage near the end. PREFECT, racing closed to the pace, opened a clear lead at the half-mile post and thereafter held on tenaciously under strong handling to hold the opposition safe. REFUN, outrun and far back early, was taken up sharply when blocked on the final turn, but came around horses for the drive and closed with a rush. MESABI, slow to begin, saved ground while rapidly improving his position and the final turn and loomed boldly, but could not carry his speed to the end.
