PUSSY CAT, unhurried while within striking distance of the pacemaker, responded well to attain a clear lead nearing the end, then held the opposition safe. SWATCH was always formidable and continued on gamely. FROGGY set a good pace and weakened only slightly. LUCKY LICK made up ground steadily. PHIBLANT held a favorable position early, fenced well and assumed command soon after the twelfth obstacle, then withstood the challenge of CHERWELL The latter was always a factor, lodged a strong challenge, but was not good enough. HAMPTON ROADS was not good enough despite saving ground during his rally. PALAJA failed to threaten. CROONING WIND jumped well, but failed to respond.
