Observe AkSarBen Day At Fonner Park Track TrackDelegation Delegation Coming From Omaha For Todays Card Seven in Dash DashBy By DEAN WILLIAMS WILLIAMSFONNER FONNER PARK Grand Island Nebr May 3 Friday is AkSarBen Day at Fon ¬ ner Park in honor of the states foremost philanthropic organization which annually sends a large group of its members to the local plant on the day set aside each year for their honor The nationally known group sponsors the AkSarBen race meet ¬ ing at Omaha which runs for 35 days from May 22 to July 7 The Knights of AkSarBen Purse the seventh race on the program will be de ¬ cided over the five and onehalf furlongs course The field will be made up of seven horses including Mr Bob Valiant North Campeno Flag Third Sandair Plow Jet and Applex The only two in the field who have not won this year are C M Reynolds Plow Jet and Wallace Strongs Mr Bob BobLuella Luella Schoens Representative turned in an impressive frontrunning victory in his last outing and may be installed as the publics choice in Fridays top offering The five and onerhalf furlongs win was gained over a muddy track and may need the off going to give his best performance but he is certain to give a good account of himself himselfSandair Sandair owned by Fred Wyse has been a sad disappointment in her starts at this track The chestunt daughter of Air Rate won her first out at Oakland Park Hot Springs Arkansas this spring for a 2000 claiming tag but has been unable to han ¬ dle much cheaper competition here Should she show any of her early spring form she will undoubtedly be the horse to beat beatThe The field is very evenly matched and is certain to draw a great deal of attention from the local patrons The contestants will be racing in the 1500 claiming bracket but all are h4ghjy consistent and all have their followers t4
