New Screening Rule at Omaha Eliminates Inferior Horses HorsesOMAHA OMAHA Nebr May 3 A new screen ¬ ing rule put into effect this year has eliminated from AkSarBen racing many inferior horses which formerly cluttered up the barn area and kept better horses out of races racesAs As a result the competition at this years AkSarBen meeting starting Tuesday May 22 is expected to be more evenly bal ¬ anced and the better class of stock on the grounds is expected to provide more f orm ful racing racingThe The new rule was put into effect at the I request of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association It provides that i horses which have not run first second or third for a claiming price of 1000 in their last 10 starts shall not be granted stalls In addition to the screening rule Ak SarBen has raised its minimum purse this year to 1800 and its minimum claim ¬ ing price to 1500 which means the class of competition is raised so high that a cheap horse just wouldnt have a chance
