r Pro Bono Captures Jamaica Sprint Given Strong Ride By Jockey Sterling SterlingDaughter Daughter of Better Self Gains Neck Decision Over Pacesetting First Asking AskingBy By BOB NORWOOD NORWOODJAMAICA JAMAICA L I N Y April 30 Strongly ridden by young Raul Sterling Benjamin B Davis Jrs Pro Bono outfin ished Velvet Acres favored First Asking by a short neck in todays feautred Midland Beach Purse C T Chenerys Next Day was a little more than two lengths behind in third place and a length and a half before Warner Stables Exclusive Pro Bono who had finished second to Exclusive here ll days ago paid 1470 and required 112 for the six furlongs over at track that was fast but appeared more than somewhat dead A crowd of 21436 turned out in pleasant summery weather weatherMike Mike Sorrentino hustled First Asking in ¬ to a dalyight lead at the start of the fea ture with Mabe Gee Glamour and Pro Bono forming a compact group behind her in the run down the backstretch and around the far turn Exclusive was several lengths farther back followed by Next Day DayCaught Caught in Close Quarters QuartersNearing Nearing the three furlongs pole Exclu ¬ sive began a strong move but was soon in close quarters when Next Day moved up outside of her and from that point Bobby Ussery had to change course repeatedly with the second choice Meanwhile First Asking was rolling along a couple of lengths in the van with Pro Bono launch ¬ ing a challenge on the outside in the upper stretch while Exclusive finally found room on the rail and moved into third place placeAt At the furlong pole First Asking still seemed home free but Sterling roused Pro Bono strongly and the daughter of Better Self responded willingly As First Asking gradually weakened Pro Bono came on steadily to triumph going away Exclu ¬ sive appearing discouraged by her early misfortunes tired badly at the end and offered little opposition to Next Day DayMabe Mabe Cee and Glamour stopped badly after a brief flash of speed
