CORRIGAN TAKES THE WATERHOUSE CUP. San Francisco, Cal.. March ". Corrigan, an added starter, won the leading Pacitie Coast cup fixture, the Waterhouse Handicap, nt two miles and a quarter, from the heavily backed favorite Wire In in gallant style over a muddy track. However well served by "the muddy going he still gave indisputable evidence of the possession of rare stamina as well as speed. Barney Schrelber and Burns and Waterhouse are joint owners of Corrigan. It was due to his former owners importunings that the horse was sent for the valuable trophy and Mr. Sehreiber evinced unbounded delight over his victory; saying: "I dont know which pleased me most, to have bred a-real cup horse, or- that he was named after the grandest turfman in America, Edward Corrigan." J. F. Newman got in today with eight horses. Don Domo was left behind to fill an early Ascot Park stake engagement. Jockey L. Fountain Is too ill to ride. Preservator. Nealon, Brigand and Nine Spot were the additional entries to the Thornton. Stakes. Favorites and outsiders shared equally in todays successes. But for the untimely downpour of last night a record crovd would have journeyed to Oakland to see todays brilliant card decided.
